Monday, April 8

Kindergarten Club, 10-11 a.m.

Kindergarten Club is intended for the families of children who are entering kindergarten in fall 2024. Children and caregivers participate together in a variety of fun activities designed to help children prepare for kindergarten. Tips for adults, early literacy activities, social and emotional learning opportunities, and skills that set children up to be successful students will be the focus.

This program is designed using evidence-based approaches to assist parents and caregivers on ways they can help young children develop skills they’ll need for school success.

While supplies last, rising kindergarteners will receive a bag with early learning materials for attending. Registration is not required.

Play and Learn Story Time, 10-10:30 a.m.

Join us for an active story time full of fun books, music, movement, and sensory play! Ideal for ages 2 – 4. Registration is not required.

Eclipse Viewing Party, 2:30-3:30 p.m.

The library wants folks of all ages to visit the library and borrow some viewing glasses from us, or bring a pair of your own, and view the total eclipse as it happens! We’ll also have eclipse-themed activities for all ages to enjoy!

This event is one element of an inclusive party in partnership with the library and Brookville Boosters, Eye Docs, the Brookville Area Chamber of Commerce. The party will be held at the Brookville Branch Library and the Brookville High School, 1 Blue Pride Drive. There will be other activities, booths, entertainment and food trucks as well!

Registration is not required.

Tuesday, April 9

Mother Goose on the Loose: Baby and Toddler Storytime, 10-10:45 a.m.

Bring babies and toddlers for games, songs and stories that have an early literacy base and are designed to aid in stimulating the learning process for babies and toddlers. Caregivers are encouraged to bring children from ages birth to 36 months old to join in this fun program. Registration is not required.

Tween Tuesday: Board Gamers, 3-4 p.m.

Kid board gamers in grades 5-6 can play games from the library’s collection with their friends and make new friends! There will be plenty of new and classics games! Registration is not required.

All Ages Chess Club, 6:30-8 p.m.

If you enjoy chess or want to learn the game, come spend an evening playing, learning, testing and improving chess moves with other players of varying skill levels. All ages and levels are welcome. Feel free to bring your own board or play on the sets provided.

Wednesday, April 10

Preschool Storytime, 10-11 a.m.

Children ages 3-5 years can enjoy stories, songs (Miss Teresa plays her guitar), and other fun learning activities designed to develop the language, literacy, and social skills a preschooler needs for school success. Registration is not required.

Thursday, April 11

Movers and Shakers Storytime, 10-10:30 a.m.

It’s never too early to grow a child’s love of learning. This early literacy-based program features music, dancing, rhymes, stories, and more. Kids and their adults will shake it together! Sing, dance and enjoy music, movement and fun! This program is recommended for children ages 1-4 years and all abilities are welcome. Registration is not required.

Homeschool Club, noon-1:30 p.m.

Homeschooled children ages 6-12 should pack a lunch and bring it to the library! After they eat, they’ll participate in a set of fun and educational activities with Miss Amanda. There’s a different theme each month, including science, math, social studies, creative writing, art and more! Kids can meet up with other homeschool friends and/or make new ones!

Teen DIY: Self Care Toolbox, 3:30-5 p.m.

Teens in grades 7 through 12 can make a variety of self-care products to help them relax and get their minds and bodies ready to finish out the school year! They can spark their creativity! Registration is not required.

PAWS to Read Storytime, 6-7:15 p.m.

Each month the Brookville Branch library gives Golden Retriever Couper, the chance to meet young ones and listen to stories during the Paws to Read program. Families have the opportunity to register for one of four individual one-on-one reading sessions with Couper, a certified therapy dog affiliated with the Miami Valley Pet Therapy Association (MVPTA).

A whole-group story time is presented halfway through the sessions and those who aren’t able to read to Couper are welcome to attend the story time. Couper will be available to pet and love on during that time frame.

Friday, April 12

History Buff Book Club: “Killers of the Flower Moon,” 10-11 a.m.

Hey history buffs, there’s a book club that meets every other month to read and discuss historical fiction and nonfiction. April’s non-fiction book is Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI by David Grann. The book spent 98 weeks on the best seller list when it was published in 2017 and more recently after it was released as a movie in 2023.

Zumba, 11 a.m.-noon

Zumba uses Latin dance and other rhythms and fuses them with fitness aerobics. This fun workout feels more like a party and less like a workout. join us for some interactive dancing and fitness fun.

You will be required to sign a waiver to participate in this program. Paper copies of this waiver will be available in person the day of the event. Registration is not required.

Saturday, April 13

All Ages Crochet Club, 10-11 a.m.

This program is open to crafters ages 6 to adult, and crafters of all skill levels are welcome. If someone has been wanting to learn to crochet, staff will be happy to teach them. Children may need their adult to stay and help them. Crochet hooks and yarn will be provided, but crafters are also encouraged to bring their own if they wish.
