Lewisburg introduces new banners

LEWISBURG — The village of Lewisburg has new banners.

The red banners, located downtown on Commerce Street, contain the the village’s new logo that says “Experience Lewisburg.”

“We worked with Jake White last fall in the design of the banner,” councilmember Lori Pheanis said.

“Jake does a lot of the marketing and he created the logo,” Pheanis continued.

Pheanis said White’s mother Lisa is the Executive Director of Business, Marketing and Education at the Preble County Historical Society.

“Our vision was to not only focus on downtown Lewisburg, but to focus on all of Lewisburg, including the parks and the African farm,” Pheanis said.

“We also have a gift shop out on (U.S.) 40 that kind of gets forgotten about,” Pheanis continued.

Pheanis added the goal is to also promote businesses and sites neighboring Lewisburg in an attempt to attract people to the area.

“When people come to Lewisburg, they also a lot of times go to places like the Bank House Cafe in Verona,” Pheanis said as an example.

“We are trying to incorporate the Lewisburg area. That’s why the tag line is ‘Experience Lewisburg’ because that’s what it’s all about,” Pheanis said.

“We don’t want people to just shop and eat in Lewisburg. We want people to experience all of Lewisburg,” Pheanis said.

Village chief fiscal officer Susan Laux said another way the village is attempting to attract people to Lewisburg and the surrounding area is placing the village logo on signs on Interstate 70.

“I put the application in with the Ohio Department of Transportation to get that going,” Laux said.

“We hope sooner than later to see the logo on signs on I-70,” Laux added.

Laux indicated the logos will appear on both east and west I-70 and on the State route 503 exit ramps that lead to the village.

“We tried to make it so that if you are driving 70 mph on the interstate you can see it and read it,” Laux said of the sign.

Pheanis said once the signs on the interstate are in place, she hopes it will encourage other businesses to follow suit and add their names.

“Once they start doing that, it will draw more people to Lewisburg,” Pheanis said.
