Blue Devils defeat Henry County Wildcats

PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Brookville won its final spring break game 5-3 against the Henry County (Kentucky) Wildcats to improve to 6-3 overall.

The Blue Devils took a 1-0 first inning lead. Leadoff hitter Braden Chambers got hit by a pitch and advanced to third on a single to right by Nathan Waggoner. Chambers scored on a sacrifice fly to center by Sam Fullenkamp.

The Wildcats tied game in the top of the second. Josh Shea drew a lead off walk. Logan Perdue and Camden Clubb drew one out walks to load the bases. Issac Abney got hit by a pitch to score Shea.

Chambers worked out of the bases loaded jamb by getting Jaylan Hortenbury to ground out.

Henry County took a 2-1 lead with one run in the top of the third when Shea drew a two out walk and scored on a single to right by Jonah White.

Brookville answered with one run in the bottom of the third. Chambers drew a lead off walk and Waggoner reached on an error with Chambers advancing to third. Chambers scored on a wild pitch to tie it 2-2.

The Wildcats took a 3-2 lead in the top of the fourth. Clubb, Baylor Nolin, and Abney hit consecutive singles to load the bases. Chambers was lifted with Cole Crabtree coming in to pitch.

Hortenbury hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Clubb. Crabtree ended the scoring threat by getting the next two batters to hit infield pop ups.

The Blue Devils secured the victory with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Lucas Trent stroked a one out single to center with H. Giswite coming in to pinch run. Giswite stole second and third and scored on a ground out to short by Lane Willoughby.

Crabtree got hit by a pitch and Coltin Lawson followed with a double to left to advance Crabtree to third. At that point Henry County lifted Shea with Hortenbury coming on to pitch.

Kade Baker hit a ground ball that resulted in an error by Hortenbury with Crabtree scoring to make the final score 5-3.

Crabtree earned the victory in relief. He scattered three hits and allowed no runs with four strike outs and one walk in four innings.

Shea took the loss for Henry County. He pitched four and two-thirds innings, surrendered five runs (three earned) on six hits, with one strike out and one walk.
