Lady Bolts start slow in victory over Wayne

CLAYTON — With the game tied 2-2 after four innings Tuesday, the Northmont girls softball team scored two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to post a 7-2 victory over Wayne.

With the victory Northmont improved to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play while Wayne fell to 4-3 and 0-2.

Jadyn Johnson led Northmont by going three for three with a triple and one run. Kyleigh Gunter went two for three with a double, a walk, and three RBIs. Sydney Strickland went two for three and scored one run.

Emily Bole went one for one with a run and one RBI. Lacie Knick went one for one with one run and one RBI. Morgan Pendleton went one for four with a double, one RBI and one run. Adee Kautz hit a sacrifice fly for one RBI.

Zoey Hodge pitched four innings, scattered six hits, allowed one earned run, no walks, and struck out five. Gunter pitched three innings, allowed three hits with no walks, no earned runs and struck out four.

Reagan Ames led Wayne with two hits in three at bats. Brogan Benson went two for four. Laila Labert went one for three with a double, one run and one RBI. Kendal Mason went one for three with one RBI. Cheyenne Townsend went one for three with one RBI and one run.

Mason took the loss for Wayne. She pitched six innings, surrendered nine hits, seven runs (five earned), with one walk and two strike outs.
