Tri-County North softball team beats Bradford

LEWISBURG — Tri-County North’s softball team overcame four errors Tuesday to post a 7-6 victory over Bradford to improve to 2-3 overall and 2-0 in Western Ohio Conference play. Bradford fell to 2-4 and 1-2 in conference play.

The Lady Panthers scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Chloe Jackson hit a leadoff single to center, stole second but got thrown out trying to steal third.

Kasidi Daugherty drew a walk and reached second on a passed ball and third on another passed ball. Hope Strawser hit a single up the middle to drive in Daugherty with the winning run.

Bradford took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning on singles by Lex Clark and Tegan Canan. Kendal Weldy laid down a bunt and reached first on a fielding error to load the bases.

Addy Mills singled through the right side of the infield to score Clark and Canan with Weldy advancing to third. Calli Didonato hit a sacrifice fly to bring Weldy home for a 3-0 lead.

Tri-County North answered with four runs in the home half of the second. Jordan Pinion hit a leadoff single and stole second. Jackson got thrown out at first after a dropped third strike with Pinion advancing to third. Pinion then scored on a passed ball.

Mya Pinion and Daugherty drew back-to-back walks. Strawser singled to right to load the bases. Gracie Hemp singled to center to score Canan and M. Pinion with Daugherty advancing to third and Strawser to second.

Daugherty was thrown out at home when Bella Cherry grounded into a fielder’s choice. Kora Lykins doubled to left to drive in Strawser and Hemp to put the Lady Panthers up 4-3.

Bradford tied it with a run in the top of the third. Vivian Harleman singled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Clark.

The Railroaders took a 6-4 lead in top of the fourth. Didonato drew a walk with Kennedi Richards coming in to pinch run. Alani Canan doubled to center with Richards reaching third. Lilly Canan reached base on a fielding error that enabled Richards and A. Canan to score.

Tri-County North tied the game in the bottom of the fourth. Bella Cherry drew a walk and scored on a double to center by Lykins. Hannah Webster followed with a double to left to score Lykins to tie it 6-6.

Daugherty picked up the win by pitching all seven innings. She gave up eight hits, six runs (three earned), with one walk and five strike outs.

Lykins led the Lady Panthers by going three for four with two doubles, three RBIs, and one run.
