BROOKVILLE — Brookville High School seniors will be busy on Friday, May 17, from 8:30-11:30 a.m., participating in various service projects in the community.

The students will be participating in the school district’s annual “Serve Brookville” program.

For three hours, the students, with the assistance of teachers and community members, will perform a variety of tasks for residents, businesses and organizations.

Serve Brookville is sponsored by the Brookville Alumni Association.

According to the Brookville school district Serve Brookville website, the purpose of the program is to “develop a service-oriented mindset in our students so that when they graduate, they will desire to help make our world a better place.”

The program also gives graduating seniors the opportunity to connect with Brookville High School alumni and members of the community.

The Serve Brookville committee is currently seeking projects.

Ideal projects for the students include lawn care, painting, cleaning, and organization.

Last year, for example, students stained the wood at the Castle Playground in Golden Gate Park. They also painted a swing set next to the playground.

Anyone who has a project the students can help complete may go to www.brookvilleschools.org/community/serve-brookville-2024, and click on the “Serve Brookville 2024” button for more information and for a form to fill out and return to high school principal Jason Stephan.

The deadline to submit a form is May 3.
