Thunderbolts lose early lead during loss to Elks

CLAYTON — After winning three straight Northmont’s varsity baseball team lost two games, 2-1 in extra innings Tuesday at Miamisburg and 13-4 to Centerville at home Wednesday.

Centerville improved to 7-4 overall and 5-2 in Greater Western Ohio Conference play while Northmont falls to 4-8 and 2-4 in conference play.

The Thunderbolts took a 2-0 first inning lead against Centerville. Chase Fuduloff drew a lead off walk and Jamir Ross followed with a single up the middle to move Fuduloff to second. Jacob Beck drew a walk to load the bases.

Drake Sauber followed with a line drive single to left to drive in Fuduloff and Ross to give Northmont a two run lead.

The Elks tied the game with two runs in the top of the third. Colten Burleson reached on an error making it all the way to second base. Jackson Clark singled to center to drive in Burleson.

Clark stole second and advanced to third then scored on a passed ball.

Centerville blew the game open with five runs in the top of the fourth, added three in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh while limiting Northmont to one run in the fourth and fifth to post a 13-4 victory.

Karson Adkins belted a towering three run homer to center in the top of the fifth to boost the Elks’ lead to 10-3. Clark led Centerville by going three for four with two steals, three runs and three RBIs. The Elks stole a total of eight bases.

Jayden Benson went two for four with one run and four RBIs. Luke Maciejewski went two for four with one run. Drake Wells pitched three and two-thirds innings, surrendered two hits and two earned runs with four walks. Tyler Otto pitched three and a third innings, allowed two hits, one run, issued one walk and struck out two.

Brady Whittaker started on the mound for Northmont. He gave up seven hits and seven runs (three earned) in three and one- third innings with three walks and two strike outs. Brady Lupton pitched three and two-thirds innings in relief and allowed five hits and six runs (two earned) with three strike outs and one walk.

Lupton went two for four at the plate with one run and a stolen base. Ross went one for four with a run and one RBI. Sauber went one for three with two RBIs.

Northmont defeated Miamisburg 10-0 in five innings on Monday. Dylan Allamon struck out 10 and allowed no hits and no walks in the shutout victory. Fuduloff led the offense with four hits in four at bats with two stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

Miamisburg split the series with a 2-1 victory in eight innings on Tuesday. Billy Osmanski stroked a two-out single and later scored on a single to left by Preston Barr.
