COLUMBUS — The postseason for high school softball teams begins next week with the release of the brackets earlier this week by the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
The highest seeded team will host the first three rounds.
In Division I, Northmont is the No. 8 seed and will travel to No. 5 Vandalia Butler for a first-round match-up on Monday, May 6 in the North 2 sectional. The winner moves on to the sectional final on Wednesday, May 8, to play either No. 7 Springboro or No. 16 Middletown.
In Division II, Eaton earned the No. 3 seed and will host No. 12 Belmont in a North 2 sectional first round game on Tuesday, May 7. The winner will advance to play No. 5 Wilmington on Thursday, May 9.
In Division III, Preble Shawnee is the No. 12 seed and will host No. 14 Dixie on Monday, May 6 in a North 2 first round match-up. The winner moves on to play at No. 2 Miami East on Wednesday, May 8 in the sectional final.
Also in Division III, Brookville earned the No. 6 seed and will meet the winner of No. 8 Greeneview or No. 9 Bethel on Wednesday, May 8 in the North 3 sectional final.
In Division IV, No. 15 Twin Valley South will host No. 17 Yellow Springs on Tuesday, May 7 in the first round of the North 1 sectional. The winner will play No. 1 Tri-Village on Thursday, May 9 in the sectional final.
Tri-County North is the No. 6 seed and will host No. 11 Franklin-Monroe in the first round in the North 1 sectional. The winner will host No. 21 Fairlawn in the sectional final on Thursday, May 9.
No. 19 National Trail will open tournament play at No. 2 Ansonia on Tuesday, May 7 in the North 2 sectional. The winner will meet No. 12 Jackson Center on Thursday, May 9 in the sectional final.
