Preble Shawnee

CAMDEN — Preble Shawnee lost 8-1 Monday to Dixie in the first round of the Division III, Southwest I softball sectional.

Bethany Deaton led the Lady Arrows with three hits in three at bats with one RBI. Delaney Klapper went one for three and scored one run. Maddie Gibbs went one for three.

Mady Power pitched four and one-third innings. She surrendered one hit, no earned runs, walked six and struck out four. Lily Jones pitched two and two-thirds innings, surrendered two hits, no earned runs with three walks and three strike outs.

Bethany Himan led Dixie by going one for four with three RBIs. Erin Crotty went one for four with two RBIs. Shawnee fell to 9-14. The team still has three regular season games on its schedule.

Twin Valley South

The Lady Panthers crushed Yellow Springs 10-0 Tuesday in the opening round of the Division IV, Southwest I softball sectional.

Twin Valley South scored three runs in both the first and second innings and added four more in the fourth. In the first inning Abby Crouse drew a bases loaded walk to drive in one run and Peyton Howard singled to score two more runs.

Crouse went two for two and Howard led the team with three RBIs. Makenzie Kaiser and Makenzie Wise stole two bases each.

Sidnee Elswick drove in a run and Amelia Suggs drove in two more in the second inning.

Elswick earned the victory pitching. She allowed two hits, no runs and struck out three. Violet Babbs took the loss. She gave up six hits and six earned runs in four innings with eight walks and two strike outs.

The Lady Panthers improved to 7-13 and advance to face Tri-Village in a game scheduled for May 9 in New Madison.

National Trail

ANSONIA – The Lady Blazers fell 10-0 Wednesday to Ansonia in the first round of the Division IV, Southwest III sectional softball tournament.

Ansonia scored six runs in the third inning to take a 9-0 lead. Addison Geyer belted a three run homer in the inning. Kelsey Muhlenkamp and Jayda Mangen both scored on steals of home in the bottom of the second to take a 3-0 lead.

Abby Kramer earned the victory. She surrendered two hits with two walks and eight strike outs in five innings. Miranda Ott and Morgan House accounted for National Trail’s only hits.

House took the loss for National Trail. She pitched four innings, surrendered seven hits, four earned runs with one walk and four strike outs.

Bailey Schmit, Maddie Buckingham, Ava Thatcher, Addison Geyer, Lillian Kaiser, Muhlenkamp, and Mangen had one hit each for Ansonia.
