VERSAILLES — Brookville placed 2nd at the Division III sectional wrestling tournament Saturday at Versailles High School while the host Tigers took 1st place.
Both schools had multiple wrestlers advance to district while Twin Valley South had two qualify, Clayton Woodgeard and Jack Gose.
Gose (12) placed 2nd at 157 pounds losing a 5-0 decision to Nathan Barker (12) of Milton-Union in the championship match. Woodgeard (11) placed 3rd winning by a fall (2:57) over Dallas Coffey (11) of South Charleston Southeast at 144 pounds.
Only the top four in each weight class qualified outright for the district tourney, which will be held at Troy’s Hobart Arena starting at 3 p.m. Friday and continuing Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
Brookville 106 pounder Hayden Jones (10) took 1st place winning by a fall (3:40) over Trey Huber (10) of Versailles.
Khadyn Jacobs (12) of Brookville took 1st place at 113 winning by a fall (4:28) against Cruz Guttierrez (11) of Springfield Catholic Central.
At 120 Brookville’s Tanner Sampson (9) took 1st place scoring a 2-0 decision over Kyler Walsh (12) of Carlisle.
Logan Jones (12) of Brookville placed third at 126 with a 9-3 decision against Emmit Demange (10) of Versailles. Also at 126 Sean Derringer (12) of Twin Valley South placed 6th losing by a fall (3:37) to Gavin Henry (9) of Indian Lake.
The Blue Devils’ Damian Moler (12) placed 4th at 132 losing a 4-0 decision to Lane Bergmann (11) of Versailles. Brayden Jones (11) of Twin Valley South placed 6th losing by a fall (0:15) to Hunter O’Dell (10) of Greenon.
