WEST ALEXANDRIA — Under the direction of Chief Eric Stevens the West Alexandria Police Department continues to grow. During a Monday, Feb. 13, village council meeting, Stevens reintroduced a former officer with the department, Joshua Kazmerick, and had him sworn in by Mayor Jeff Hickey to resume duty with WPD.

Council welcomed Kazmerick back with a unanimous vote in favor of his employment. Kazmerick will be paid $16 hourly as a part-time patrolman.

In other business:

• Stevens requested approval to order new radio batteries for the department, stating current equipment is outdated and faulty. Council approved the purchase.

West Alexandria Village Council meetings are public meetings held on the third Monday each month, at 7 p.m., at 8 Marty Lane in the EMS building.
