OXFORD — The McCullough-Hyde Foundation announced last week the launch of the Community Granting Program as part of the expanded philanthropic mission of the foundation. It is anticipated that more than $200,000 in funding will be available annually through this grantmaking program.

The Community Granting Program is a philanthropic program that makes investments that address significant health needs of local communities. The foundation will partner with and provide funding to local organizations that are leading the way to build healthier communities. The foundation will invite proposals from organizations for programs and projects that focus on education, prevention programs, awareness efforts, wellness opportunities and direct care in the following areas:

•Mental health

•Alcohol and drugs abuse

•Access to healthcare

•Food insecurities and obesity

•Healthy behaviors

The five funding priorities address significant health needs identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment, published triennially by McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital/TriHealth. The Community Health Needs Assessment includes input from a wide variety of sources, identifies the greatest health needs in Butler, Franklin, Preble and Union counties and provides location-specific data points related to health.

“Throughout our local communities there are wonderful organizations working tirelessly to build healthier communities and to positively impact the lives of our friends and neighbors,” said Travis Robinson, Community Granting Committee Chair. “These Community Grants will allow the McCullough-Hyde Foundation the ability to provide much needed financial support that will impact communities in the four-county area.”

Organizations that are a 501(c)(3) or other not-for-profit organization located in Butler County, Franklin County, Indiana, Preble County, or Union County, Indiana are encouraged to apply for a community grant.

“Local voices and local solutions matter,” said Tyler Wash, Executive Director. “The new Community Granting Program furthers the McCullough-Hyde Foundation’s commitment to provide local solutions to community issues. We look forward to working hand in hand with our nonprofit partners to address the significant health needs in our communities.”

The first application deadline is April 15. Moving forward, the annual funding cycle deadlines are April 15, Aug. 15 and Dec. 15.

The Community Grant Application is available online at TriHealth.com/MHMHFoundation. Additional information and material such as the Request for Proposals, granting guidelines, deadlines and best practices are also available on the foundation’s website.
