TVS reviewing cellphone policy

WEST ALEXANDRIA — The Twin Valley South Board of Education met Monday, March 27, for both the regular board meeting, and a special records commission meeting. During the regular meeting, the board received updates from Superintendent Scott Cottingim on the cellphone policy.

“If you remember, back in the summer, we changed the policy in the handbook. No cell phones in the classroom, only in passing times. I’ve been talking to administration, listening and looking at what other people are doing. So, I asked (principal) Dunham to survey the staff to get their views on cellphone usage,” began Cottingim.

Cottingim provided the results of said survey to the board to be viewed at their discretion and considered for the upcoming handbook revision for the school. Currently in Preble County, schools such as Preble Shawnee are testing more stringent cellphone policies and seeing positive results.
