A LOOK AT BROOKVILLE:Dairy Queen opens new location

BROOKVILLE — Dale and Nancy Myers had worked for months to get their Dairy Queen ready for opening at its new location at 610 Arlington Road in Brookville. The official opening was held on February 12, 2000.

For two years prior, Dale and Nancy had been looking for a better location than the old one at 715 Market Street. They had owned the Dairy Queen franchise for about nine years.

In November 1999, the former Hardee’s restaurant building at 610 Arlington Road was purchased and renovation began in December. At opening time, Dale Myers stated that none of it would have been possible without the support and long hours of hard work that were put in by his family and friends.

The new Dairy Queen offered some new additions as well as old lots of old favorites. The new building had the advantage of indoor seating and more parking. The menu still offered ‘Hot Eats’ and ‘Cool Treats’ plus they now had coffee, ice cream cakes and Treatzza Pizzas.

The owners also welcomed anyone who wanted to hold a birthday party or a party for any special occasion at their restaurant.

During the school year they kept shorter hours so the young people that they employed could be home at night at a reasonable hour. Many young people were employed there.

As a community service, the Brookville Dairy Queen published a monthly community calendar, distributed through the Brookville Star. Any organization that wanted to have an event listed could call the DQ and have it added to the calendar.
