EATON — The Preble County Board of Commissioners met Monday, April 17, with the Miami Valley Community Action Partnership (MVCAP) Preble County branch and Executive Director of Veterans Services Keith Carr.
Representing PC MVCAP were Janelle Caron, Kathy Clapp and Lori Hobb, providing the Community Housing Impact and Preservation (CHIP) program update.
According to Caron, MVCAP was funded $110,000 (admin $11,000, assistance $99,000) for Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA). Allocated for the fifth quarter was $16,917 in Housing Assistance Payments (HAPs) and $1,375 in administrative costs.
Caron added, 15 households were served, with 31 people included.
Regarding repair and rehabilitation for derelict property, the total funded for first year repair was $104,000, with rehabilitation being $164,000. Caron noted, two repair projects were completed, with one still in progress. The total spent for project costs was $37,557, with two rehab projects in progress.
Commissioners met with Carr following the MVCAP meeting, and he provided an update on the current status of Preble County veterans.
“Since my last update in January, I’ve had six VA claims be awarded totaling about $10,700 to veterans here in Preble County,” he reported. “Currently I have 65 claims I’ve put in since January.”
According to Carr, Veterans Services has had 370 interactions with vets since January, a positive number compared to previous statistics.
In other business, commissioners:
•Noted and approved an amended certificate, listing expenditures for PCSD#6, and the PC bridge superstructure replacement, concerning improvements to roads in Jackson Township.
•Approved resolution #255-23-203, concerning supplemental appropriation for PCSD#6 in the amount of $151,710.63 and PC bridge superstructure replacement in the amount of $430,000.00.
•Approved the resignation of Catherine Wilson, SSW II, Children Services.
•Approved the new hire of Spencer Decker and Rebekah Swartz for the Preble County Engineer.
