Guess What’s New In Reading?

Sweet summer is here and July is already slipping away. Never fear…we’ve compiled a list of some of the most popular books to read this summer. So dive in and grab a copy (or three) of this can’t-miss summer beach read you won’t want to put down. Away we go!

Kristy Woodson Harvey – The Summer of Songbirds: Nearly 30 years ago in the wake of a personal tragedy, June Moore bought Camp Holly Springs and turned it into a thriving summer haven for girls. But now, June is in danger of losing the place she has sacrificed everything for and begins to realize how much she has used the camp to avoid facing difficulties in her life. Author Kristy’s writing is a lyrical and unforgettable celebration and a love letter to the place and people that make us who we are.

Emily Henry – Beach Read: This summer book is about a romance writer who no longer believes in love and literary writers stuck in a rut. Augustus Everett is an acclaimed author of literary fiction. January Andrews writes when she pens a happily ever after and kills off the entire cast. In fact, the only thing they have in common is for the next three months they are both living in beach houses, broke and bogged down with writer’s block. They are polar opposites but grab the book and see what happens to them! Josie Silver, New York Times says. “I swooned Beach Read as a fresh air. My heart ached for Augustus and January, a steamy, smart and perceptive romance. I was engrossed.”

Deb Rogers – Florida Woman: Deb’s character Jamie is definitely a Florida woman. She grew up on the beach, thrives in humidity, has weathered more hurricanes than she can count and more. She goes viral for an outrageous crime she never meant to commit in the first place. When the change comes to escape she goes deeper into the offbeat world. She soon encounters a stranger that she never could have imagined. Kevin Wilson, bestselling author said, “Deb Rogers writes with such verve and honesty about all the ways we stumble through life.”

Sally Hepworth – The Mother-In-Law: This family is definitely hiding something. Mother-in-law Diana can be tricky and when you know you were not her choice for her son, things can get tense. But now Diana is dead, and her suicide note says she doesn’t want to live. Guess what the cause of death was not? The autopsy shows poison and evidence of suffocation. Who could possibly want Diana dead and why did she disinherit both of her children and spouses from her will? Woman’s Day said, “We devoured it in just one sitting. But you will too!” A good mystery for everyone.

Shelby Van Pelt – Remarkably Bright Creatures: After Tuva Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at Sowell Bay Aquarium. She’s been keeping busy since her son, Eric, mysteriously vanished on a boat 30 years ago. She was acquainted with a giant Pacific octopus living in the aquarium but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of eight arms for her human captors. Shelby Van Pelt’s debut novel is a gentle reminder that sometimes taking a hard look at the past can help uncover a future that once felt impossible. Author Kevin Wilson said, “Remarkably Bright Creatures is a beautiful examination of loneliness that can be transformed, cracked open, with the slightest touch from another living thing.”

I have been reading the best Beach Reads of 2023 by Sarah Stiefvater. She says, “The only thing missing is a juicy book you can lose yourself in while you listen to the waves crash.” A trip is not complete without some beach reads,,, you won’t want to put them down. Cheers for all… everyone!
