Shawnee boys soccer falls

short of WOAC title

CAMDEN — Preble Shawnee fell 2-1 to visiting Dixie on Tuesday, Oct. 10 in a battle for the Western Ohio Athletic Conference title. The Arrows were seeking their first-even league title, but couldn’t overcome an early two goal deficit.

Dixie scored twice in a five minute stretch early in the first half then held off a late Shawnee rally. Ethan Fields got the Arrows on the board with just under 25 minutes to play in the second half.

Shawnee finsihed the season 11-4-1 overall and 4-2 in the WOAC. The 11 wins marks the most in school history.

The Arrows were scheduled to begin tournament play on Tuesday, Oct. 16 against Tri-County North.

Eaton volleyball

bested by Shawnee

EATON — Eaton’s volleyball team fell to visiting Preble Shawnee 25-21, 10-25, 26-24, 25-23 on Thursday, Oct. 12. The Eagles were led by senior Ellie Wilson with 14 kills and 2 1/2 blocks. Freshman Shandon Garrett added 13 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore Kenzie Wilson had 44 assists. Daisy Suggs added seven kills and Jillian Ditmer contributed eight kills. Lyli Collier had 20 digs as did Katie Bryant.

Eaton concludes the regular season with a 15-7 overall record and 10-2 in the SWBL Buckeye.

The Eagles will begin sectional tournament play on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 5 p.m. against Franklin at Lebanon High School.

Northmont tennis

players fall in district

MASON – All of Northmont’s district qualifiers lost in the first round at the Cincinnati ATP Lindner Family Tennis Center on Oct. 12.

In singles play Lily Braswell lost to Sofia Tomlin of Springboro, 6-1, 6-1. Erin Kelsey lost to Sarah Clark of Cincinnati Turpin, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles Kennedi Robinson and Makayla Hibbard lost to sisters Irisa and Perasa Poompanit of Cincinnati Walnut Hills, 6-0, 6-1.

Lady Devils soccer

wins three straight

BROOKVILLE – The Lady Devils soccer team concluded regular season play with three straight wins to finish at 9-6-2 overall.

Brookville defeated Carlisle on the road 9-3 then returned home to defeat Franklin 5-0 and Talawanda 6-1. Against Carlisle Ashlee Haupt had three goals while Alexi Bickel and Grace Taylor netted two goals each.

Molly Luebke and Bickel had two goals each in the 5-0 victory of Franklin. Luebke had three goals in the 6-1 victory over Talawanda.

Brookville opens sectional tournament play Oct. 19 at Miami East.
