Life-Size Candyland at BBL

BROOKVILLE — Wait, what? Life-size Candyland? That’s right, the Brookville Branch Library will offer three gaming sessions of Life-Size Candyland this week where the players are the game pieces.

The players will draw cards to move around the life-size game board like regular sized Candyland. Usually the game is limited to two-four players, however, these sessions may have up to six players.

“I’ve thought about doing this program for several years, back when I first heard of doing life-size board game programs. I’ve done other life-size board games before, and they take some time and care to put together, so I just had not been able to do Candyland until now. I also had to think pretty hard about how to put together a large Candyland game board. We’ll see how it holds up,” Children’s Librarian Amanda Kierstens explained. “Anyone is welcome to play! Candyland is suitable for preschool age kids, but I’m sure there are older people who will appreciate the nostalgia of playing Candyland and enjoy the novelty of playing a giant version.”

The first two sessions are for kids ages 3-12 years old and are on Monday evening, Dec. 11, from 6-7 p.m. The next session for the same age group will be the same evening from 7-8 p.m. Participants are welcome to sign up for either of the two gaming sessions on this date.

Register online at daytonmetrolibrary.org on the Brookville Branch Events tab, call 937-463-2665 or at the library. The branch is located at 120 Blue Pride Drive, Brookville..

The third session is for teens, grades 7-12, and will be on Thursday, Dec. 14, from 3:30- 5 p.m. Registration is not required for this session.
