Lady Bolts fall to Springboro

CLAYTON — Springboro used a balanced scoring attack Wednesday to take a 20-9 first quarter lead that swelled to 42-15 at halftime en route to 75-40 victory.

Despite the 35 point defeat, Northmont coach Maggie Neanen viewed the outcome in a positive light.

“The small victory of the day is that the first time we played them we only scored 30. This game we scored 40, which doesn’t mean a lot to a lot of people, but for us and my girls it means a lot,” Neanen noted. “We gave up 70 the first time we played them, so we gave up five more than that tonight.

Six-foot guard Bryn Martin did most of the damage for the Lady Panthers scoring 32 points, including three shots from beyond the arc. She tallied 13 in the second quarter to put Springboro up by 27 at halftime.

Jenna Hall led Northmont with 10 points. Brenna Williams scored six of her nine points in the fourth quarter.

Springboro outscored Northmont 18-7 in the final frame. Northmont converted three of nine shots in the fourth period.

“We fight and we don’t give up, so I am very proud of my girls,” Neanen added.
