EATON — Powered by two home runs from junior Julie Schrimper, Eaton’s softball team rolled to a 13-3, 5-inning, run-rule victory over visiting Oakwood on Thursday, April 18, while the Eagles baseball team split a pair of game with Valley View last week.

With the win, the softball Eagles have now won four straight and eight of their last nine games to improve to 9-2 overall and 5-2 in the Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division.

Against Oakwood, Eaton tallied three runs in the bottom of the first then broke the game open with a 10-run third.

In the third, Schrimper hit both of her home runs. She went 3-for-3 at the plate, which also included a double, with five RBI.

“Proud of the way we came out and attacked the ball offensively,” Eaton coach Maggie Neanen said. “Julie Schrimper had a day at the plate hitting back-to-back home runs fresh off an injury, we are certainly happy to have her back in the lineup.”

Junior Meredith Pieratt tossed the final 4.2 inning and struck out eight to pick up the win. Offensively, Pieratt went 2-for-3 with four RBI. Senior Alexia Morgan and junior Sarah Abner each added two hits.

“Our goal is to get better every game and I think we continue to do that,” Neanen said. “This team is special.”

The Eagles took advantage of 12 walks issued by Spartan pitching.
