ESC meeting changed to Monday

The special meeting of the Preble County Educational Service Center Governing Board originally scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, at 5 p.m. has been changed to Monday, May 13, at 5 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Preble County Educational Service Center, Conference Room, 597 Hillcrest Drive, Eaton. The Governing Board will dismiss into executive session to discuss the hiring of a superintendent.

PCMHRB committee meetings set

The Preble County Mental Health and Recovery Board Finance Committee meeting will be held on Monday, May 13, at 4:30 p.m. at 100 E. Somers Street, Eaton. PC BOE meeting Thursday

The Preble County Board of Elections will conduct a regular business meeting on Thursday, May 16, at 9 a.m. in the board’s office, 101 E. Main St., Eaton.

Theta Mu celebrating 75 years

Delta Theta Tau’s (national women’s philanthropic organization) Eaton Chapter, Theta Mu, is celebrating its 75th anniversary with an Open house on Sunday, May 19, 2-5 p.m., at the Eaton Country Club, 100 Morton Road. An afternoon of fellowship and refreshments will be offered to all current and former members. A group photo opportunity will take place at 3:30 p.m. that afternoon. Guests are encouraged to bring Theta Mu Chapter memorabilia for sharing. Reservations and questions may be directed to 937-733-9994, after 5 p.m. The Chapter is reaching out to all members of Theta Mu Chapter: current; alumni; associates; members-at-large and former members and asking if they know of a former member who is no longer residing in the Eaton area, that they share this information with them.

Eaton Farmer’s Market each Saturday

Road closure

The Preble County Engineer’s Office reports Free Short Pike (between mailbox numbers 9012 and 8879,) beginning at Camden-West Elkton Road Ending at Short Road is for a full bridge replacement. The road will be closed for approximately 8 weeks (until approximately June 27.). The road will be closed to all through traffic. Emergency personnel and school buses will not be permitted.

Englewood Art Festival seeks parade participants

The Englewood Festival and Arts Commission is accepting applications for parade participants for the 50th annual Englewood Art Festival. This year’s festival will be held Saturday, Aug. 10 and Sunday, Aug. 11, at Centennial Park, 321 Union Blvd., Englewood. The parade will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday immediately following the 5K race. Tornado siren testing in Preble County

For the 2024 tornado siren testing season, sirens in Preble County will be tested on the first Wednesday of each month at noon, weather permitting. In the event of inclement weather, testing will not occur and sirens will be tested the following month.

Eaton North Maple Street project under way

The City of Eaton’s 2024 North Maple Street complete reconstruction project is under way and will continue for approximately 8 months, according to city officials.For this reason, a construction and roadway closure will be in place from the intersection of North Maple and East Mechanic Street to the intersection of North Maple Street and Lexington Road. North Maple Street will only be open to residents who live in that section, emergency vehicles and school buses.
