GRATIS TOWNSHIP — A Preble County Sheriff’s Deputy was killed in a two-vehicle crash in the 4700 block of Ohio 503 early Monday morning, Dec. 18. The crash also killed the driver of the second vehicle.

EATON — Preble County Prosecuting Attorney Martin P. Votel announced last week he will be running for judge of the Preble County Court of Common Pleas, General Division, in 2024.

UNION — More than a few tears fell as Northmont Board of Education members expressed their appreciation to retiring board member Thomas Walker at his final meeting on Dec. 6.

UNION — A budget for fiscal year 2024 totaling $26,103,352 was approved at the Dec. 11 city of Union council meeting. The ordinance was adopted by unanimous vote.

COLUMBUS — A bill sponsored by State Representatives Phil Plummer (R-Dayton) and Andrea White (R-Kettering) to make the streets of Ohio safer by increasing penalties for street takeover, reckless driving and fleeing law enforcement passed out of the Ohio House Wednesday.

EATON — Henny Penny celebrated the opening of its newest expansion, its Owners Hall and Wellspring facility on U.S. 35, with an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 7.

PREBLE COUNTY — The Preble County Convention and Visitors Bureau is currently working on the 2024 edition of the “This is Preble County” Visitors Guide.

EATON — Eaton City Council has a new member and the city has a new Mayor.

EATON — The City of Eaton’s Division of Fire/EMS officially has a new leader. Assistant Fire/EMS Chief Andy Bekemeier was sworn in as the new Eaton Fire/EMS Chief on Friday, Dec. 1.
