BROOKVILLE — Bradford jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning Thursday and held a 3-1 lead until Brookville erupted for seven runs in the third inning and five more in the fourth to post a 13-3 victory over the Railroaders.

NEW PARIS — Tri-County North’s varsity softball team exploded for 10 runs in the top of the first inning in its season opener Thursday to steamroll its way to a 24-3 victory over National Trail.

Eaton drops opener, 6-1
EATON — Eaton’s baseball team was limited to three hits and didn’t score until the final inning as it fell 6-1 to visiting Miamisburg on Monday, March 25. The Vikings scored a run in the first, two more in the second and three in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead. Eaton blanks Preble Shawnee, 9-0, in opener
EATON — Eaton used a five-run second inning, highlighted by a three-run homer by sophomore Madison Copper, to defeat Preble Shawnee 9-0 in the season opener for both softball teams on Monday, March 25. Copper went 2-for-4 on the day with four RBI. Freshman Ella Statzer added two hits and drove in two runs. Junior Meredith Pieratt pitched a complete game one-hitter while striking out 14. She also went 3-for-4 at the plate. Eaton added three runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to round out the scoring.
