JAMESTOWN — Eaton’s girls wrestling team dominated the first-ever girls pre-regional tournament on Sunday, Feb. 25, at Greeneview High School, by winning three individual championships and qualifying all 11 wrestlers to the regional tournament.

ST. PARIS & COVINGTON — Eaton and National Trail’s boys wrestling teams each qualified three wrestlers to next weekend’s district tournament.

SPRINGFIELD — Eaton’s upset bid came up just short in the first round of the boys Division II sectional with a 43-41 loss to No. 7 seed Urbana on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

CLAYTON — Third-seeded Preble Shawnee found itself in a battle during a boys Division III sectional final match up with upset minded Dayton Stivers.

COLUMBUS — After months of discussion and meetings around Ohio to gather feedback, the Ohio High School Athletic Association Board of Directors unanimously approved a proposal Thursday, Feb. 15 to utilize a new formula to determine how many divisions will be offered for postseason tournaments. The change affects OHSAA General Sports Regulation 17 and will result in girls and boys soccer now having five divisions, while girls volleyball, girls and boys basketball, softball and baseball will all have seven divisions. In those sports, Division I and Division II will only include 64 schools.

CLAYTON — With a 67-52 victory Friday over Springfield in the final game of the regular season the Northmont boys basketball team heads into tournament play with momentum.

COVINGTON — Brookville trailed by 16 points with less than 15 seconds left in the first half of a game against Dayton Christian in the Sectional Tournament Saturday, Feb. 17, as a late three-point basket by Ashlee Haupt made the score 26-10 at the break.

BROOKVILLE — The Brookville Blue Devils on Friday shook off a gritty effort by Milton-Union by pulling away in the final period to win 81-54 and roll to their 16th win of the season. It was the fourth straight game in which Brookville has scored over 80 points and the fifth time this season the Blue Devils have reached the 80-point mark.

MIAMISBURG — With 49.5 points Northmont’s wrestling team placed 6th out of eight teams at the Greater Western Ohio Conference wrestling championships Saturday at Miamisburg High School.

CAMDEN — With seven individual champions and four runners-up, Preble Shawnee’s wrestling team claimed its third consecutive Western Ohio Athletic Conference championship on Saturday, Feb. 17 on its home mat.
